Random Run In with a Great Horned Owl! So I’m hiking through the woods with a friend when we spot a posse of peepers with binoculars and a telescope staring silently and excitedly up at a tree. I whispered what’s going on? The answer is in this photo below taken by lead peeper and infamous NYC naturalist Gabriele Willow who joins the show today. It’s a Great Horned Owl with her baby nesting in a tree in a super secret location in the Bronx of all places. I was sworn to secrecy ! Willow who was leading a group from the NYC Audubon Society, is known for his birding tours and city wildlife (or city “wilderness”) tours, which he has led since 1999, through the parks, gardens, and waterways of New York City. Seriously What are the chances I’d run into him? So cool Gabriel Willow.
