‘Danny’ (Michael O’Keefe) the Caddyshack Caddy back on the links ‘officially’ caddying at this years U.S. Open Golf Tournament at Winged Foot Golf Club In Mamaroneck N.Y.
“Risk It or Regret It!” That’s What I Always Say. What a riot that Michael O’Keefe (65) who played the caddy ‘Danny Noonan’ in “Caddyshack’ (40 Years ago) risked putting the idea it out in the universe to caddy again this year at the US Open. Local club golf pro Danny Balin heard about it and thought it was a great idea too. He invited Michael (now 65) to caddy for him in practice rounds at The US Open at the famed Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, NY. Perfect way if you ask me, to celebrate The 40th anniversary of the making of the movie “Caddyshack”! Yup ‘Danny’ was back at work with his red Bushwood hat and and giant Titleist staff bag on his shoulder. (Bet it felt a lot heavier these days LOL) Michael O’Keefe joins The Debbie Nigro Show for this Feature Interview.
BTW: This fun golf twosome also brought attention to a fundraising effort started by Winged Foot member Bill Fugazy, to raise support for the club’s full-time caddies who have lost work due to COVID-19. The Richie’s Gift campaign on GoFundMe.org was close to $250,000 last we checked. In case you didn’t know – Michael was actually a caddie for 2 summers at Winged Foot before he was cast in the now infamous ‘Caddyshack”.
