Wellness Wednesday: I’m ‘Debbie Upper’ vs ‘Debbie Downer’ but we need to talk. ‘Heaven Forbid” something happens to you or yours are you prepared? You’re getting older. Your parents are getting older. Got a plan? Many do not. If you reach 65, there’s a 50-50 chance you’ll need paid long-term care. Caring for aging parents? Chances are you’ll have to help financially. Understand Medicaid? Is there someone disabled whose future you worry about? Is there a Will? Uncomfortable discussions but they MUST be had. Helps to have them with someone who’s smart with heart. Today my Womens History Month Feature Guest Is Patricia Bave, an experienced attorney with great compassion and insight who can help you navigate these difficult family situations. Tune in 11:12 noon to The Debbie Nigro Show 11-12noon eastern today on 1490 WGCH.

She handles a broad range of matters, specializing in elder law, including Medicaid planning and applications, estate planning, including will and trust drafting, estate and trust administration, guardianship proceedings under Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law and Article 17A of the Surrogate’s Court Procedure Act and special needs planning.

Wellness Wednesday + Womens History Month + National Doctor’s Day This Saturday = My Wonderful Doctor Mandira D. Gharekhan. She is compassionate, professional and smart as a whip. She is ‘personal’, cares, and takes the time to talk in a very busy profession. She is also humble but agreed to be my guest today during the show at 11:40am eastern.
There actually was a time when I was growing up it was odd to consider a female Dr. Imagine? Whew! Glad we’re past that!

PS: National Doctor’s Day is a holiday which is celebrated on March 30th in the United States. It is a holiday that honors physicians for the work they do for their patients, the communities they work in and for society as a whole.

PPS: Did you know who the first female Dr. was? Elizabeth Blackwell, M.D. (1821-1910) She was the First Lady Doctor in the World. She was the first woman to graduate from a medical school, and was a pioneer in promoting the education of women in medicine in the US.
