‘TODAY’ SHOW Co-Anchor Savannah Guthrie and Parent Educator Allison Oppenheim wanted young girls to know, it’s not how they look but what they do in life that matters! Together they came up with a children’s book called, “Princesses Wear Pants”. It’s about fashion, girl power, and self-expression. ‘Princess Penelope Pineapple’, the main character is an invincible girl who knows how to get the job done while staying true to herself. (love her already). The book challenges gender stereotypes in the name of individuality.

Princesses Wear Pants follows Princess Penelope, who lives in a beautiful palace with a closet full of beautiful dresses. But Penny has important responsibilities, which means she wears the pants! What she wears each day depends on which job she has to do. Unfortunately for Princess Penelope, not everyone in Pineapple Kingdom thinks pants are appropriate princess attire. (To heck With Those People).

Both authors join me at 10:40am eastern to share why this message of girl empowerment is so meaningful to both of them.
