The Biggest Social Media Phenomenon in History: The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Pat Quinn was diagnosed with ALS one month after his 30th birthday in 2013. He passed on Nov 2020. He was an inspiration to millions of people around the world for his bravery to raise awareness about a disease that he knew he would not survive.
Pat Quinn and fellow ALS sufferer Pete Frates inspired by another ALS sufferer Anthony Senerchia, have all since passed. They spearheaded a movement that went on to raise $155 million for the ALS Association and over $220 million around the world for ALS research.
In 2014 more than 17Million people around the world took the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise the much-needed funds to try and find a cure for this disgusting disease. However, as a direct result of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge HUGE Progress has been made!
