Are You A Connector? A SuperConnector? I am a both. It’s something I do all the time but never actually talk about. I remember the day I discovered I had this gift. I could never quite put my finger on how to describe myself. I was reading Malcolm Gladwell’s, “The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference” and read this description : ” – “Connectors are the people in a community who know large numbers of people and who are in the habit of making introductions. A connector is essentially the social equivalent of a computer network hub. They usually know people across an array of social, cultural, professional, and economic circles, and make a habit of introducing people who work or live in different circles. They are people who “link us up with the world…people with a special gift for bringing the world together”. They are “a handful of people with a truly extraordinary knack for making friends and acquaintances”. Gladwell characterized these individuals ‘back then’ when the book came out in 2000, as having social networks of over one hundred people. Along the way I read another book by Keith Ferrazzi. “Never Eat Alone”. In it he describes the Super Connector. Super Connectors are people who maintain contact with thousands of people in many different worlds and know them well enough to give them a call.”
