If You Know Me You Know I’m Funny But I Don’t Do Mean. EVER. If anything I lean toward kind. I don’t have a mean bone in my body. There’s plenty funny about the world that doesn’t have to come at someone else’s expense. I would NEVER book anyone known for insults and crude jokes on my show. EVER. However when I read in townvibe that Lisa Lampanelli, the comedian formerly known as (as of like a minute ago) “The Queen of Mean” went SOFT? … I decided to let her on. (Sonofagunshe’s stolen my tiara and is now going by ‘The Queen of Kind’! We need to have a talk. LOL) Lisa says SHE doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. OK so why the big change all of a sudden? Seems twice divorced Lisa has had quite a few life changing events in the past few years. Losing her Dad was tough . But her most widely publicized change was her decision to have gastric sleeve surgery. She lost over 100 pounds and has kept it off six years. Because Lisa knows she is not alone in her struggles with body image and weight she’s officially quit comedy ( as of yesterday on the Howard Stern Show) and is embarking on her new venture “Lisa Lampanelli’s Losin’ It” which will have it’s worldwide debut at the Fairfield Theatre Company on November 3. During the 90-minute show, Lampanelli and her cast of professional actors, storytellers, and other surprise guests describe what they’ve been through and how they maintain sanity while they’re “losing it” over weight and body-image issues.
“It’s not that I don’t want to make people laugh anymore, says Lampanelli , it’s that I want to see if I can help them feel better.”
A large portion of the show’s proceeds will benefit the The Center for Family Justice, Inc. which provides critical support to people who have been victims of violence and domestic abuse.
Alrighty then Lisa! Now you’re my kinda girl! You’re ON! Listen LIVE from anywhere The Debbie Nigro Show 1490 WGCH at 10:20am EST
