Happy International Womens Day! To All The Resilient Superhero Women Around The World. I Don’t Do Politics On This Show And I Don’t Side With Any Political Party On This Show BUT I Will Always Support Women On This Show. Always Have (before it was cool). Always Will. I’m making that point today because I’m choosing to post this opinion piece from the NY Times written by Kristen R. Ghodsee ( a militant feminist) who stopped sending flowers to her Mom on Mother’s Day for political reasons. Kristen chooses instead to send flowers on this date, even though her mom isn’t pleased about it. Kristen’s point? “I don’t want to celebrate you only as a mother.” She continues…”A resilient woman who once worked two jobs after my father abandoned her with three mortgages, two kids and no child support, she was more than just a parent to me. She was a superhero.” Soooo many women are wonderful mothers and superheroes too. I wish my Mom was still here because I would send her Flowers on both occasions, Mothers Day and today . I personally love being valued as a mother, but like most women, I also want all of us to be also valued – as Kristen puts it… “as workers, as citizens and as fully equal members of society.”
Maybe all the girls should buy themselves some flowers today?
Have You Wished Your Mother a Happy International Women’s Day Yet?

Celebrating Some Women With The Right Spirits! Bourbon! Whiskey! and Brandy! Olde York farm has a farm-to-cask distillery and cooperage located along the Claverack Creek in Hudson NY. When I found out my gal pal in business Louise Newsome and her family opened it, I had to go. Her supertstar daughter Sophie Newsome had the vision after going to college up that way and got her whole family involved to make limited releases of micro batch spirits! Sophie is the brilliant Owner & Operations Manager. Dad Stuart Newsome is Owner & Master Cooper! Louise Newsome is Owner & Promotions Manager! And Rory Tice is Head Distiller & Wholesale Manager. Meet Louise and Sophie on the show today at 11:21am eastern.
Olde York farm distillery is part of the historic Jacob Rutsen van Rensselaer House & Mill complex. Rensselaer also had his own distillery and cooperage circa 1805. Today their distillery and cooperage resides in Rensselaer’s former carriage house. Their handmade barrels, made on site, are used to age their bourbon, whiskey, and brandy. On weekends their tasting room is serving cocktails, local beer, wine, and cider. Tours of the distillery and cooperage are available on weekends.
Theres even a cool highly sought after Inn.
