Florence Nightingale, The Founder Of Modern Nursing Would Be In Awe Of Her Fellow Nurses If She Were Here Today. To mark the contributions nurses make to society “International Nurses Day” was created and is celebrated May 12th, every year on her birthday around the world. Smack in the midst of Nurses Week I thought I’d check in and see how the nurses are doing at one of the busiest Covid-19 hospitals in the NY area. Today’s Feature Interview is Paula Fessler, RN, Chief Nurse Executive and Sr. VP for Patient Care Services at WMCHealth which includes the Westchester Medical Center, the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and the Behavioral Health Center in Valhalla, NY. They are doing amazing work! Many have stepped up to perform work they might not normally do. Heard they have great news to report! (God knows we crave good news) As of the date of this conversation, the Westchester Medical Center Health Network surpassed a milestone: 1,000 COVID-19 cases discharged from their member hospitals.
