Big Waves and Volcanos aren’t the only action in Hawaii. Say Aloha to Denise Esposito, checking in today on behalf of ‘The Patsy Mink Center For Business and Leadership in O’ahu, where lots of action is happening to help women entrepreneurs and small businesses, grow thrive and prosper. Denise was born and raised in Hawaii but lived on the East Coast for over 30 years until she moved back there 3 years ago. Her daughters were born in CT and they lived in Norwalk for several years.
FYI: ‘Patsy Mink’ was the first woman not of European ancestry and the first Asian American woman elected to Congress. She was also the first woman elected to Congress from the state of Hawaii, and became the first Asian American to seek the presidential nomination of the Democratic Party in the 1972 election.
Patsy Mink was one of the principal authors of the Education Amendments of 1972, largely referred to as Title IX, which was later renamed the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act, after her death in 2002.
