Every week I go looking for people, products, ideas and research that can help all of us “Keep the LIVE in Alive!” Sometimes I find inspiration. Sometimes I find things that make me laugh out loud. And sometimes I discover something that makes me say…
“Whoa…Didn’t see THAT coming!”
This episode had all three.
Another birthday came and went…and I couldn’t be more grateful. The wrinkles I could do without, but I’ve been around awhile and that’s a good thing because my brain and heart are much more attractive as a result. I had a blast celebrating with my college roommate Tina but I had to cut her out of the photo because I know she doesn’t like photos of her posted online. Neither do I lately, but hey I’m coming to terms with my ‘seasoned’ looks…it is what it is and we are who we are.

As we get older, birthdays become less about stupid stuff and counting candles and more about appreciating the gift of getting another one. After surviving a few things that could have taken me out over the years, I don’t take birthdays for granted anymore.
I’m loving my family and friends and making a real effort to spend quality time with them. I’m also reconnecting ‘in person’ with business associates because I’ve always believed that’s where trust is built. I’m fortunate to be working with some incredibly innovative entrepreneurs bringing exciting new products to market, and I have to admit…I’m feeling pretty good about being at that stage of life where I know what I know.
I’m also trying to try more new things…while trying very hard not to get hurt.
(Welcome to this phase of life! Bring Band-Aids! 🙂

This past year brought its share of aggravating aches, pains and unexpected physical issues. They tested my patience, stretched my sense of humor…but thankfully never took it away.
I did notice something sort of amusing.
I talk to myself a lot more these days.
Usually it starts with…“Seriously, Debbie?” Funny…but not funny.
Humor, I can tell you for sure, is critical to survival!
Debservation:
“Growing Older is Mandatory. “Keeping the LIVE in Alive!” is Optional.”
OK SO…I celebrated my birthday a little too enthusiastically. Translation? I overate. I overdrank. (That’s not an actual photo of what I ate and drank but it’s close enough)

‘Recovery’ definitely isn’t as quick as it used to be. Translation? Took me 3 days to recover from 2.
Which is exactly why every Wellness Wednesday I go searching for the newest ideas, smartest people and most interesting discoveries that might help all of us age a little healthier—and a whole lot happier.

This Week We Talked About…
- Why red-light therapy and biohacking are exploding in popularity.
- The growing shortage of blood donations—and why donating could someday save someone you love.
- Important food, medication and child car seat recalls worth knowing about.
- Why buying GLP-1 medications online without proper medical supervision may not be the smartest idea.
- How AI can be incredibly helpful…but still can’t replace real human connection…or a real human voice.
- And much more you’ll have to listen to discover – because I forgot.

Guest Spotlight: Red Light Therapy & Biohacking
One of my favorite conversations this week was with Jessica Chichester, co-founder of HAUTE HEALING OASIS in Stamford, CT.
Jessica is one of those fascinating people who makes you think differently the minute she starts talking.
She explained how therapies like infrared saunas, red-light therapy and other science-backed wellness technologies are helping people improve energy, recovery and overall vitality by supporting the body’s own natural healing systems.
I’ll admit it…
After hearing her explain everything, I was ready to leave the radio station and drive straight there.
I even told her I wished she had a “wellness car wash.”
You’d shuffle in exhausted…
…and twenty minutes later burst out the other side ready to conquer the world!
Now that’s a business model I can get behind!
(If you’d like to listen to Jessica’s Feature Segment I’ve posted it separately here on the website site.)
MEANWHILE IS IT JUST ME? OR IS IT BIZARRE HOW MANY RECALLS THERE ARE LATELY?

Debbie’s Recall Round-Up
Apparently, a big theme in the news this week week was…
“Don’t eat it, don’t sit in it, and don’t take the allergy pill.”
Reported recalls included:
19 million eggs linked to a salmonella outbreak.
TODAY.com: Over 19 Million Eggs Recalled for Salmonella Risk at Kroger, Brookshire’s and More

Lettuce and ready-made salad concerns.
Good Housekeeping: Is It Safe to Eat Lettuce? Here’s What to Know About the Latest Recall

Ricotta cheese.
People Magazine: Soft Cheese Recall Expands for Potential Listeria Contamination Causing Deadly Multi-State Outbreak

Evenflo Revolve360 child car seats.

Cetirizine allergy medication.
FDA.gov: Unique Pharmaceutical Laboratories (A Div. of J. B. Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.) Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall of Cetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets USP 5 mg Due to Potential Cross Contamination with Ranitidine

Debservation:
“Every time I go to put something in my mouth these days somebody yells…’Wait! Wait!…Spit it out! That’s been recalled!”

The Upside?
This may become the “Didn’t See That Coming” Diet of 2026!

My Favorite Laughs of the Week
I admitted on the air…
- I think I’m personally one of the few people these days keeping the snack industry in business.
- Pretty soon they’ll invent GLP-1 salad dressing…once we’re allowed to eat lettuce again!
- My three grandchildren together are like psychedelic soup…or Pop Rocks exploding all at once.
- And grandmas everywhere understand this one: taking a car seat in and out of the car should qualify as an Olympic event.

My Challenge To You This Week
Do one thing your future self will thank you for.
Maybe it’s donating blood.
Maybe it’s cleaning out that spice cabinet from 2013. (Yes…I actually found one!)
Maybe it’s finally scheduling that wellness appointment you’ve been putting off.
Or maybe it’s simply deciding that another birthday is something to celebrate—not fear.
One more birthday.
One more chance to laugh.
One more chance to learn something new.
One more chance to help somebody else.
That’s really what “Keeping the LIVE in Alive!” has always been about.

Until next Wellness Wednesday…
Remember “If you’ve still got a pulse…you’ve still got a shot!
Best!
Debbie

00:05
It’s time for The Debbie Nigro show with Debbie Nigro, who says she’s still a babe, or at least she thinks she still is. That’s right, attitude is everything, and Debbie’s delusionally young. No one sees the glass of Cabernet half full like Debbie. She’s fresh air with a magnetic flare. Some day has arrived, and as far as she’s concerned, it’s time to roll. Hot air, hot air. So hot in here. So high, high, oh. Okay, here we go again. You know what this day is? I do, I do. It’s Wellness Wednesday. Boy, do I need it.
01:00
I need all the information I’m about to share with you. Why? Because I’m trying to keep that live in alive, and there’s stuff out there that we need to know about people we need to know about, new information, some innovations, and I try and gather it all up and show up once a week here on the radio and hang out with you guys and figure it all out together because really, honestly, we are in this together. All right, so I had another birthday since we’ve seen each other last. Yes, I did. Happy birthday to me. Something weird about birthdays as you get older. I don’t think you really catch on until you have a lot of them. What a gift it is to have another one of them. And so I’m very grateful because I’ve had a few like incidents where I might have checked out along the way, you know.
01:48
You know my story, right? Oh, thank you so much, Bob. I think it was so heartwarming to get all the messages on social media. You know, I really am backing off social media recently. I’m going to jump back in, but I took like a year off from, I couldn’t take it. Like in the full court press way, I be on there, but I’m stepping in. How can you take a whole year off? Well, I took a year off of really maximizing, like I was everywhere, every day, all day long, you know, posting stuff, saying things, and I was like, you know, I just can’t, I’m losing it. So I stepped back. I didn’t feel good, that’s how it started. I didn’t feel good, I didn’t feel happy and fun. So I know I have a purpose on this planet. We all hope that we have a purpose on this planet, right? And as you get older, you start to question like, okay, Why am I here? What is my legacy? What am I leaving behind to the world that is better than, you know, leaving it better than when I arrived, right? What is it that I’m doing?
02:45
So for me, it’s really sharing information, wisdom encouragement, motivation. You can do this too. Look at me. Hello, I’m still standing. You know, and I’ve been a survivor of a lot of really psycho things that most people don’t get to survive. Not most, but many. Okay? So I’m very grateful. And I come to this show today to tell you that I had a really good birthday weekend, but I did something wrong. I ate and drank too much. Yeah. I wasn’t gonna, but then I did. So I’m recovering and it’s taking a lot longer than it used to in the olden days. Woo! That’s how you know you’re getting older. But all these new things are out there that I want to explore in this next year of my life, one of which is red light therapy. I know this has got something going on with it and I need to know more.
03:35
You know how I know something’s going on? Because I went to a pal’s house last week for a little pool party. I was invited. Denise. Thank you, Denise. And Denise. Rosado, many of you in the local area know, is a unbelievable realtor, but she goes, Come here, come here, I’m gonna show you something. ” And she takes me in her house downstairs, and she put in this booth, this thing, this like red light therapy, I go, Whoa.” The whole booth? I mean, I’ve seen these things that you put over your face. No, no, she got, there’s a booth there.
04:04
I don’t know exactly what it does, but the first time I ever heard about red light therapy, it was from a gal who’s coming up on the show in the next segment not the next segment, I’m sorry, in the second half of the show. She’s Oh wow, she is interesting. And I met her at Denise’s house maybe last year at another gathering because, you know, Denise and Pete Rosado are very fun. So they have people over all the time. That’s my cousin, my best buddy’s cousins. All right, so I meet this Jessica, okay? She’s actually a doctor. She’s got a lot of titles there. And she’s a reverend, she’s a doctor, Reverend Dr. Jessica. Oh Chichester. Yeah, she’s something. But she’s an owner in a place in Stanford, Connecticut called Haught Healing Oasis. Have you heard about this? No. It is Stanford’s premier destination for advanced biohacking and integrative wellness. This girl’s not average, okay? What do you see? They have all these science backed therapies there, which are set up to optimize your body’s performance. Gosh knows I need to optimize my body’s performance, recovery, and longevity. And all powered by 20 years of international clinical research.
05:11
And they have the infrared sauna, they got the beamer therapy, exercise with oxygen, red light therapy, the whole thing. So she’s coming up. She will tell us what’s going on. Okay. Yeah, right here on the Debbie Nigro show. You know, I always got the best of the best. It’s my gift getting people to say, yes, sure, Debbie. I’d love to come tell everything I know, which would cost a lot of money if you were to go direct and say, give me everything you know. Okay. Anyway, she’s come. Don’t you? There’s something that people get annoyed with. I just want this out there as a sidebar. When people say to other people who’ve spent their lives doing something, I need to pick your brain. The person who’s just spent years and years doing that, unless they love you, really doesn’t want you to pick their brain.
06:00
They would like you to consult with them or have them consult with you because that’s valuable. Okay, that is their, that’s their street cred. Yeah, but some people see it that way and some people. Don’t. Pick your brain? No, some people don’t see that what they have is something that they can actually be paid for. Oh, correct and mundane. I have given away so much free information in my life. I didn’t even know I could make money doing it until like last week. Yeah, right. So I’m hoping that going forward, I figure that out. All right, so lots of stuff in the news. Let’s change the topic, Bobby. I want to go through some of the stuff I got reeling around in my head here. I have to tell you, the recalls are getting on my nerves. Everything. I go to put something in my mouth, somebody goes, Oh, that’s been recalled.
06:43
You have a can you get salmonella? How do you have a salad these days? You can’t have a salad. Has anybody else stopped eating salad besides me? Raise your hand. Everybody. And look at the prices of them in the stores. The ones that are already made, the prices have gone down. All I wanted to do this summer was have great salads strawberry salads. I want to have blueberry salads. I want to have chicken salads, chicken Caesar salads. I can’t have a salad. That’s summer. Yeah. It’s summer without salad. And it’s almost ridiculous because you don’t realize how much leather is on things until you tell them hold the lettuce.
07:15
I actually went through Burger King which I don’t do very often but for some reason about two weeks ago and it was because I have kids and like Burger King I’m like okay hold the lettuce hold everything just hold everything because you don’t know. Did you feel like a king at Burger King? Supposedly that’s the whole approach they got now. Well they do give you what you want if you take enough time to share. Some people are like, Can you hold the lettuce, hold the pickles?” It’s like, Why don’t you just get a plain hamburger? All right. Anyway, they’ve recalled regatta. I didn’t see that coming. No. No, they recalled the eggs. I mean, there’s lots going on with recalls. And I find it to be more than usual. Is it my imagination or more things being recalled more than usual in the food category? Are you catching on to that or no? No.
08:05
I’m not. And I’m shaking my head wondering why I’m missing it. Well, the big story is that I’m salmonella outbreak linked to recall of 19 million eggs expands to 17 states, including New York. Really? How are you supposed to know your egg is involved? Because they all get packaged by different people, right? But doesn’t cooking the egg fix that? Of course. If you don’t cook them… The US Food and Drug Administration says 98 people across 17 states have been infected with an outbreak strain of salmonella linked in part to recalled shell eggs. And 26 people in the hospital. Nobody died. That’s always good to know your omelet’s not killed. You. But cases have been identified in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico. New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and West Virginia. Did you leave any state out? Yes, but the reason I mention all those states is a lot of people are traveling this time of year. So you never know where you’ve just been.
09:02
Right? That you just had eggs or might be at somebody’s house. Anyway. Midwest Poultry Services voluntarily recalled like a million five hundred Eighty nine thousand dozen white and cagefree brown shell eggs they did it Wednesday that’s like you know that equals nineteen million seventy four nine hundred twenty four individual eggs that are coming back home didn’t see that coming and obviously just being destroyed. And sadly the eggs were produced at two Texas farms and sold at a brand including Kroger, Simple Truth, Brookshire’s, Country Morning, Calmain, Sunup, and they have plant codes but I’m not going to do that on the air. You may want to just look that up if you were worried about your all right. Hey, I got a lot more to come. Some good news, too. Not just doomsday news here on the show. I’m Debbie Nogrow. This is Keeping the Lint in Alive. That’s what my theme is. It’s Wellness Wednesday, and we’re live at a studio. It’s at WGCH Radio. Come on back. Upbeat music) You can’t find the words to say. All the things have come to you, and I want to feel it too. And go on and on and on. Okay.
10:35
Well, I can go on and on and on. It’s like I was born with that gene. I got the on and on gene. Yeah, see if you can to, you know, anybody’s giving birth soon, they should tell you in advance if your kid’s going to have the on and on gene. So you prepare yourself and get good earplugs. My poor mother. All right, anyway. Hi guys. I’m Debbie Nigro. This is, shall I call, Keeping the Living Alive Wellness Wednesday. I just spent some good quality time with my grandchildren, all three of them. The three together are like some psychedelic soup. That’s what it’s like a psychedelic soup. It’s like they’re just popping. It’s like, you know, those things that pop in your mouth. Those candies that explode in your mouth when they hit saliva. That’s how all three of them are when they’re together. Candy rock? Yeah, rock candy. They’re like rock. That’s how they are when they’re all three together. I’m like, whoa, got a lot going on. And I look at them and think, who are these people going to be when they’re older? Like.
11:28
What are their gifts? And it’s funny because you can tell what somebody’s gift is, really, when they’re very young. You can see. Like, I already see this little guy who’s like, 14 months old, Tony Anthony, aka Tony. My nickname for him is Bam Bam. I see where this is going. He’s a heavyweight lifting champion. This kid is lifting up giant objects like. Is that a baby lifting? It’s like a movie. All right, anyway, part of what happens in the world, you know, things don’t always get planned. Somebody lands in the hospital, I need blood, I just want to bring this up because there’s a major blood donation shortage in the United States, okay? It’s very serious. It’s like the first time it’s been like a major. Like severe We need blood. Have you given blood recently? Anybody out there given blood recently? If not, I think you should consider it because it could be you on the other end of that someday that needs a donation. And if you’ve ever been in the hospital or with somebody you care about very much in the hospital and need a blood transfusion, you know, there better be blood.
12:34
Right? And then finding the right kind of blood, matching blood. I’m like a universal donor. I’m O negative. I learned something about that just the other day. What? The people that have O neg, which is the most universal blood. You can give blood to a lot of other people. Right. Say you need kidney. You can’t take it from anybody except an oneg person. It’s unfair. Well I think that as part of a life plan you should just be friends with people with the right blood type that you may need in case you have a problem. Okay Bobby. All right moving on let’s get that transition music. I like to keep moving on. You know I said I wasn’t gonna do a doomsday show today but I have to go back to a couple of recalls because you just need to know these things. And again I was you know every time every two seconds. Evenflo has recalled 59000 plus REO by revolve 360 child car seats. Now if you have a kid that you drive around in a car whether you’re a parent.
13:37
Grandparent or a caretaker you need to know this and they’re being recalled because the headrest can shift during a crash which increases the risk of injury. So looks like a nice car seat. The Evenflo company, though, wants you to know this: this is not something you should take lightly. And it affects the models by the names of Danvers, Chelsea, Brookline, Lennox, Holden. And Nantucket. I don’t know if anybody knows their model of an Evenflo car seat, but just you know, pay attention to that. So, do you have to have your own seat, Grandma, or do you use your daughter’s seat when you go? No. I have a car seat in my car that’s permanent. You know why? Why? Because Grandpa get brain seizures trying to take a car seat in and out of a car. There’s no way. I see. No, there’s no way. It definitely hinders my, you know. Like I can’t like be the person to drive everybody somewhere. I can’t move the car seat. Sorry. Take a taxi. I’ll meet you there. Plus it makes you good for an emergency because you’re instantly ready. Well, the thing with the car seat is that it only fits certain age. So one has grown out of it, the next one’s in it, and the little little guy, I said.
14:49
Listen, I’m out until you can that’s true you have to I can’t do two car seats what am I do driver? What who am I I can’t one facing forward the other facing? Oh, yeah, you can’t because the littlest one has to be facing back right? Yeah, can’t do that. All right. Anyway, they recall those car seats just want you to know transition music for another recall. But this is an allergy medication that’s been recalled tied to heartburn drug contamination there’s a risk there I have allergies from the rain like after the rain. I know something happens what anybody else out there don’t know what this is. Add to the list of, oh yeah, great. Didn’t see this one coming. I didn’t have this when I was younger. Anyway.
15:26
There’s an allergy medication found in cabinets all around the country that may contain something that was never supposed to be in the bottle. Oh. Unique Pharmaceutical Laboratories is voluntarily recalling four lots of cetirizine hydrochloride, five milligram tablets, because of a potential cross contamination with ranitidine, which I have no idea what it does. But it’s an reducing medication supposedly used to treat heartburn and other conditions so the FDA posts all these announcements as a public service does not endorse the product of the company and people. Who are hypersensitive to these ingredients in this you know a drug that’s stuck in there by accident can have a potentially lifethreatening reaction. Unique pharmaceutical to go rising from a holding. They’re not telling me how they were sold nationwide through multiple wholesalers. And retailers in bottles containing 100 tablets. What’s the brand? All right. Unique pharmaceutical laboratories. All right. What else is recalled before I move on? I just was like, every two seconds. It seemed like something I needed to tell somebody just in case. All right. I don’t want to talk about that anymore. I’m out. I’m out about that. What is happening in the world? Well there’s limited insurance coverage for those expensive GLPs, which we now know. So.
16:56
What are people doing? GLPs are becoming just the super drug of the year. That’s it. They don’t just help weightlift losing either. They help cartilage rebuilding in your knees, for instance. I know. Amazing. The thing is, and I’m very close to trying this. You know why I saw pictures from the birthday? Not good. So, I’m very close to trying this. But based on your history of what you’ve had, you have to go ask your doctor if this is, you know, if the side effects are worth it. And I’m not talking about the, you know, the runs, I’m talking about potential cancer, thyroid issues, blah, But what’s going on because you know they’re expensive and not every insurance company covers these. Some patients are turning to the internet. Um. The Journal of American Medicine published a secret shopper survey on July 6th, and they found that telehealth GLP 1 vendors often do not require a patient to talk with a clinician before getting a prescription, raising concerns about safety and oversight. Of 49 sampled websites, 45 issued a prescription for a fictional patient who met eligibility criteria. So.
18:15
You hearing what I’m saying? Only one in four people who was trying to get this online required a video visit with a clinician and 6 required a clinician call. All 49 required the patient to fill out a questionnaire, right? So people are getting prescriptions without having met with a true health care provider. And I find this to be concerning, almost alarming. Because you don’t want to be giving anything out to anybody who may not be the right person to take it, okay? This is all from Claudia Lewis, who’s a partner and cochair of the FDA group at law firm Venable and they were talking to Healthcare Brew and I just wanted you to know that this is going on. And it’s increasing. Enough people are doing it. They did a secret shopper survey. Everybody wants their hands on these GLP right? Okay. Anyway, you can’t avoid them because they’re all GLP is everywhere, right? And they’re all over commercials, the internet. Every other commercial on TV is somebody going.
19:13
I just poked myself with this needle. Look how cute I am. Right. Right? I think it’s revolutionizing this whole generation and it’s affecting people and businesses and industries in ways they never saw coming. People aren’t buying clothes the way they used to. They don’t need them. Hey. Look at me. I’m cute. I’m not need clothes. Look how good I am. They’re not eating snacks the way they used to. True. I think I’m keeping the snack business in business personally. No, I really do. I think I’ve got to give that up. Well, I’m going to the dentist now, and I think I have to give it up. Well. That’s what happened when I saw the pictures on my birthday. I can’t be the sole person keeping the snack industry in business. I can’t have that. I am an empath, but I have to let it go. So, yeah.
19:57
This is not just a one off. This is the future. And everybody’s trying to rally around the GLPs and every version. You’re going to start seeing more and more companies give you the ones you don’t have to inject yourself with. Of course, there’s a pill version now. Pretty soon they’re going to have a salad dressing version. When we can eat lettuce again. I feel very confident that somebody’s going to come up with a GLP salad dressing. What about a salad dressing that fixes these lettuce problems? That would be a very interesting thing. Wow, Bobby. Can you work on that before the end of the show? Because that is genius. Okay. Okay. All right. Anyway, the farm pharmaceutical companies are just trying to up each other right now because they’re like. All right, you got that, I got this. You got that. And so they’re they’re developing a novel GLPbased combination therapies. You know, pretty soon they’re going to be like, have a GLP with a cherry on top and whipped cream and a drivethrough I’m not surprised that somebody’s not thinking about that. All right. Good luck to everybody in the industry. I want to need some transition music. Okay.
20:57
What’s going on out there with AI? You know, in the world of AI, everybody is totally like, what is going on? And most people have been curious enough to try it by now, who have the ability to, you know, work a computer or a cell phone, right? They’ve attempted to find out things, and then you become a little reliant on it. It’s like, okay, every conversation is. Well, who was the person that did that? Let me look it up. Church. One of the people who got up to speak to encourage us to Give to the church had wonderful things to say. I was telling him afterwards, Geez, that was great.” He says, I got that from AI. ” Right? You don’t even know if it’s right. So I’m all for people using this to educate themselves if they’re getting the right information, right? But I’m also for people shortening their day’s lift, if you will research, writing, whatever they have to do to summarize.
21:58
Write for you. Because I I don’t I don’t not in favor of that at all. Do you know somebody actually thought that AI voices sounded better than human voices? That made me nauseous, because they don’t. You and I both know the tonality is very good, but they’ll mispronounce words. Oh. Terrible! Their tempo can be off for what they’re trying to say. I can feel it. You know right away that it’s AI. Ah, and it gives me creepers. And and the thing that gets me is when they link linking up. To a an actual human being sitting sitting in front of you, and you begin to watch carefully. You realize the mouth movement doesn’t even link up. No. It doesn’t link up. It’s terrible. Do not give voiceovers to AI. What you should do is continue what they’re doing with the clinical staffing, I’m sorry, with the research for how AI is helping in the medical situations. I was looking at this robot. There’s a company called WellSpan I was reading about in Healthcare Brew. That has a robot making hospital food. Now there you go. Why not right? That’s something like I’d rather had to have that Have that than a robot doing surgery on me without anybody at the helm. The robot was created and designed to address staffing shortages at the hospital. So there you go. Because, you know, clinical staffing shortages are a huge problem for hospitals, really big problem.
23:17
Especially since COVID. You know, there were a lot of people who were in there and just got like completely blown away by the experience and like, you know what, I’m going to go out and ride a horse, I’m going to do pottery, anything but go back in the hospital. So the people who are going back to work in the Hospitals, I thank you. The nurses, the doctors. The support staff, I always say thank you. And I have a lot of young women that I’ve seen recently who are becoming traveling nurses. Isn’t that interesting? Yeah. Really interesting. That seems even more challenging than working in a hospital. But thrilled to be doing it and loving the freedom of being able to go and help where they can and experiencing different places. So, yeah, go.
23:53
The one thing I want to tell you about AI is that, unfortunately, AI. When you are asking questions to it, gives you some of the nice things in the tone that makes you feel really happy, like you’re smart, you’re smarter than you are. And there’s a word I was suggested that by a very intelligent internet guru. Research maniac person who knows more than me. And I’m looking it up as I’m talking to you, which is why I’m not finding it and I’m talking around myself. Something that they do, I want to say sycophant, they make you think that you’re better than you are or half, everything’s better than it sounds. I don’t know. I’ll get it. Come on. Debbie. Really? All right. Point is tone. Tone. If the response is constantly, you’re terrific, everything is beautiful, you may want to just tell them, listen, everything’s not beautiful, okay? Just give me the truth here. Give me the truth. All right. Come on. I got a great guest coming up next. Don’t go away because this has been a red light therapy. Okay, rock and roll. Hi. Everybody. I’m Debbie Nigro. This is Wellness Wednesday, keeping the living alive. Gosh knows, we’re trying here, really trying here. So, I just wanted to take a minute here on something that’s been very much on my mind.

And it’s red light therapy. I started to tell you earlier that I had met this fascinating woman at a friend’s home about a year or so ago. We were sitting around talking. She’s gorgeous, smart, very eclectic, like major, she was a former, like major weightlifter. She’s got this kick butt body. But the brains and the unusual thinking to have her open up what’s called Hot Healing Oasis in Stanford, Connecticut is just not to be believed. So I wanted to introduce you to Reverend Dr. Jessica Chichester, and I want to talk to her because I said I would have her on the show. I want to know about everything she’s doing at this amazing place she has in Stanford.
26:04
Connecticut. Hello there. What do I call you? Reverend Dr. Jessica. What am I calling you? Jess, Jessie, Jessica. Jessie. It’s all in you. Jess, Jesse, Jessica. Jessie. We finally got it together. We’ve been trying really hard to do this, but we have both busy schedules. And you’re traveling a lot. What are you doing traveling around? Where are you going? I know. I just came back from a month in Thailand. It was amazing. And then now, in 10 days, we’re taking a group to Ecuador to do ayahuasca and all the psychedelics you think your grandkids are on but they’re not. Oh my gosh, you are a higher being than me. You know that right? I don’t know. Yes, you are a higher being than me. We have to swim upstream. So where did this all start? I mean, give me a little background for the audience about you, the weight lift, like who are you before you got to this opening in this area in Connecticut with this Haunt Healing Oasis, come on. Yeah. So I’m born and raised in Stanford, just the girl trying to find her way in the world, right? Kind of like an aerial story, right? What’s our place in the world? So really I got into Holistic health when I was a kid. I was really depressed. Then I got a job at the health food store. Long story short, it changed my life. I started getting to vitamins.
27:22
Supplements, yoga, all of this. Started going to the bookstore, reading books on quantum science, all of metaphysics, and realized that healing and my healing from depression was a 360 journal. It wasn’t just in body, but it was in body, mind, and spirit. So I became just, I mean, I’m a total Sagittarius. Like a natural learner. I’m very curious. I love everything health and wellness because really health is wealth, right? So from there, I got super focused. And when I was in college, I became a pre Olympic hammer thrower. After that, I became, long story short, one of the top 10 strongest women in the world. At one point.
28:02
I was the strongest woman in the US Stop there. Stop there. You were the strongest woman in the United States. I was. I had a Moment in time where I was I really was I was going for the world record in the deadlift too. So when people think of I was a powerlifter, so like a true weightlifter. Not a bodybuilder with a bikini going on stage and saying, Hey, I just need another man to judge me, you know, like, truly lifting heavy weights. Yeah. And so you know, I really, I did it because it kept me out of trouble. Just like you on your birthday weekend. Right? I was drinking and partying way too much and I needed a little bit of discipline and I had a passion for it and it gave me energy but when I was done with my career weightlifting I had 300 pounds fall on my face. Crushed my face. What? Whoa, Oh, my God. Yeah, now he’s not my boyfriend anymore, my spotter. Obviously. Obviously. He had to go. But yeah, I crushed my face. And then I still went on to, you know, attempting to break the world records. And I met my husband at the time. And I was like, you know what? This isn’t fun anymore. Like, life needs to be filled with challenges.
29:15
But you also need to have fun. And so I just kind of gave up that identity. And I said, well, you know, like Madonna, I was like, what’s the next phase of my life? You need to stop there. Who am I now? Yeah. Wait. You need to stop there. Stop there for a second because you just said something that a lot of people need to feel more comfortable with. You gave up your old identity and now you have a new identity, and that is just fine. Yeah. But it’s not easy. No. Because people always think they’re supposed to be who they are to be. Wow.
29:46
It’s such a boring lie. Yeah. It’s boring. Boring lie. It is so boring. Like, we’re in this life to be adventurous and to try different things. So, like, the same energy that propelled me into the Hall of Fame is the same energy that I used to destroy myself when I was a kid and become an addict. And that’s still the same energy. That I used to create my wellness center. So, it’s really like what Bruce Lee says, you know, where. Our focus goes, our energy flows. I mean, this is where it is. And actually, Peter and I ended up creating this wellness center that’s all based on energy energy, frequency, and vibration. So. All the services that we have there are working with your body’s own natural energy to awaken healing in your body. What does that mean? So, we have 12 different services, such as like infrared sauna, cold plunge, red lights, something called Biocharger, which uses voltage, frequencies, light therapy, all of this jazz, ionic detox, slip bath. You know, ionic detox, slip bath. But all of these devices have over 20 years of international service, international research. Research, thank you. I’m like, service? What am I talking about? Research, you know, but they’re servicing our body, right? And so they’re awakening our body’s own natural healing responses. All right. What science is finding now is like our body is made of energy.
31:17
Right? It’s the energy that gets you on the radio. It’s the energy that gets us to work. It’s the lack of energy that makes us exhausted at night and wants to overeat. It’s the same energy or lack of energy. And our cells can get charged like battery packs. And so all these different services are hitting on different pathways in your body to help charge up your ATP. Which is your energy signals in your body, and also to help detox you. Wow. I want to know about red light therapy. Focus on that for one minute as a start, because there are many things you can speak to, but that one is top of mind. Yeah. So that’s why, Deb, you loved the red light, because when you went in it and you saw it, your eyes.
32:00
Kind of like a deer in headlights, got like super attracted. And we are as human beings attracted to the light and all red light therapy. Right? We’re attracted to the light, we need the sun. We go outside, we’re healthier. We’re like a flower that’s wilting and dying, right? Like a wilting goes down, yep. Our vitamin D goes down, our mood goes down. All of our hormonal functions go down, our detox pathways, all of it tanks. That’s why you know, Denise like loves the sun so much, right? Right. We feel alive in the sun. And so all red light therapy is just like infrared saunas, it’s like a, condensed, power packed version of the healing rays in the sun. Wow, without the tan. Exactly. And what’s happening is that there’s every. So there’s red light therapy, right? That’s like a blanketed name. Okay. But there’s different frequencies of red light therapy. So, like Denise’s home unit is going to probably be, I’ll just say it’s 97, 99 I can say that it’s at a different frequency than the red light therapy at HOTE. Because different red light therapy has different, it’s like a different medical grade. Okay, so HOTE healing is.
33:20
I said HOTE, it’s HOTE Healing Oasis. HOTE, tomato, tomato. Tomato, tomato. But you’ve got a lot of advanced biohacking stuff going on there, and that’s a big word that people are like, Oh, I want to biohack and live forever.” Yeah. So when somebody comes there and has their first entree to like, Okay, what do I do first? What do I hack first in my body?” How do they know and who steers them and how does everybody know how much of each thing they need? That’s a really good question. So, number one, it’s a lot simpler than that. Like, just think it’s a lot simpler than that, right? Most people have no freaking clue what’s happening, right? Yeah. So, most people come in here to just like an info sauna. At this point. Most people know what a sauna is, then they have an understanding of what an infrared sauna is. So, an infrared sauna is actually seven times more detoxifying than a traditional sauna. So, 30 minutes in there is equal to a four mile run. You’re burning up to 600 calories. In 30 minutes. It’ll do more things than sitting in a traditional sauna for over four hours. Who knew that? So, most people, yeah, so most people come in there for an infrared sauna. Or if they’re like, oh, I’m curious, they come in there for the HOTE experience.
34:34
Which they get to try a couple of different services that we have at a good rate and modified time just to feel what it feels like to be in the space. When someone comes in we do an intake with them. So we’ll sit down, kind of go over your health goals, where you are, what’s going on, how’s your sleep. All of that jazz. And then we’ll direct people in a certain capacity. And then usually, like I call us a healing playground. I mean, because, you know, we’re not going a great adventure right now. Yeah, it sounds like a fun playground to me. We’re not getting banged up. You know, forget it. A great adventure is, like you said.
35:08
Taking out the car seat. It’s not happening. Not happening. So it’s not happening. So what is happening is a healing playground of HHO, Healing Oasis. And so when you’re, most people come in on a membership and with the membership like we’ll tell you, okay, these are some services you can try. We’ll give you a couple of services free. But you have access to all the devices that we have. So you can try things. We gift you some sessions. And then it’s a healing playground and then you’re guiding your self intuitively. You have a brief understanding of what’s going on with your body. But you’re guiding yourself into your own healing journey. So now it’s not a doctor prescribing something. Now we’re putting the onus back on you. Okay, Deb, this is what’s going on. You told me, right? These are some services I recommend. There’s other services that work well. How do you feel after doing these, right? Which ones do you like? And then later on. You intuitively kind of pull out different cards, right? You pull out different services, and either way, your body is going to, your body wants to heal itself let you know. It wants to heal itself. Yeah, your body is going to let you know, and our bodies want to heal themselves naturally. I just have to tell you.
36:20
Jessica. You’re really good at this. You are selling me on this. This is amazing. You are so knowledgeable. I have a passion for it. Yeah, I can feel the passion. I was looking at the footage. You saved my life. I see this. I’m almost the old you who needs to be saved. My gosh. I wish you had a car wash version. Where you could just go in and get a little bit of everything, come out the other side. Yeah, well, we do. You don’t have to be in there long. You can literally come into a session and it’s 20 minutes. It’s not an all day thing. These services are, it’s like, they’re so potent and the results are so concentrated that, like, really.
36:58
The infrared sauna is the longest service that you have. Yeah, got it. But in general, you know, it’s 20 minutes, 20 minutes for a session. That’s about what it is. I’m laughing to myself, imagining if you did a video of people walking in all draggy, you know, and then as they’re coming out, they’re all like bursting. Blowing out the doors. They’re all full of energy. People are like taking off like spaceships outside in the parking lot. You mean, that would be a good sales pitch? Because that’s what you’re saying is happening. Yeah, so what’s happening in your brain, right? Neurologically, what’s happening is your brain is releasing, it’s called dose, like dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin. And endorphins. What the hell are those? They’re all your happiest hormones. Or your love hormones, the things, the hormones that get released after you have sex, have a great meal, go on vacation and buy your favorite thing. That’s what gets released. So, you know, this need to overeat or to overextend ourselves or to ruminate in thought, right? It changes the frequency of your body. These services. So it’s not like you have to force yourself to be in meditation and not know how to do it for a long time. No, it’s literally changing the cellular expression of your body. I have to cut you off there, believe it or not. We’re coming to the end of the show. But not before I thank you very much.
38:15
Jessica Chichester. And I want everybody to just check out Hot, Hot, how am I saying? Hot Healing Oasis. Stanford’s premier destination for advanced biohacking and integrative wellness. This has been a great education on all the things you guys know that we need to learn more about optimizing our own body’s performance. And longevity. Thank you. I love you. Have a great rest of your day. Enjoy your trip. Love you too. Enjoy. Bye all right. Hey, you guys coming to the end of the show I got one more segment wasn’t she a great guest that was a lot we learned there about what we can do that exists to keep that living alive and you know be more vibrant Gosh.
39:20
I felt like I needed a little you know to go there like immediately like get out of the studio and drive to that place where it could heal I was amazed when she says that infrared sauna does 30 times as much as Has the regular sauna but faster? Yeah Does as much as the regular sign up, but faster. Yeah, that’s things you learn on this show. I tell ya. Hi, everybody. I’m Debbie Nagler. This is Keeping the Living Alive Wellness Wednesday, WGCH Radio. I just want to talk about expiration dates on food for a second because I found myself doing something pretty crazy this weekend. No, last couple days. What did I do? Oh, I always look at the date on things. Even if I just bought them. I try and look at them in the supermarket before I buy them so that I don’t buy something outdated and then go, oh, you idiot. But I look at dates and things and I will not eat something too far past its expiration date. Will you? When I notice it, I try not to eat it anywhere past its expiration. Right. But sometimes you can edge it by the day. It’s good to like today. Sometimes it’s not an expiration, it’s more like best if by… Yeah, best if used by. But I actually went into my spice closet and it was getting really cluttered in there and I was like, looking at the back, like, Do I need this?”
40:29
Do you know one of them said 2013? I can believe it, yeah know some spices and things don’t go bad, but come on. So then I started getting freaked out and I just took everything that wasn’t current. And now I have a lot of room in there. I don’t know what all that stuff was doing in there. Anyway, was there a story, Debbie, that you were going to talk about? Yes, there was a whole purpose of you bringing this up. And it was about expiration dates on food. And the experts are saying you can still often eat food that has an expiration date.
40:59
Yeah, experts say it’s a waste sometimes when you throw food out. Yeah, sometimes milk, right? Yogurt. Because you’ve, you know. Know, you throw it out because it’s past the date. But they said, these experts, this was the Associated Press, that many people throw away food simply because of the date on the label, but it’s still perfectly edible. Some of the experts are like, You’re just throwing away food. ” There is no federal regulations requiring standardized labels for dates on food except for baby formula. There you go. No surprise that deciphering terms like best before,” best by,” best buy, enjoy, buy, sell, buy, right? You’re like, Okay, what does it mean?”
41:37
So those labels, what most people don’t realize is what they’re trying to say, are more about how fresh something is, not how safe the food is to eat. It is to eat. Now we know. Do you know that there are more than 50 different date labels used in the United States? No, I did not. And more than 80 of people throw food away, approaching the package date label at least occasionally, and that’s according to the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. They found that. So the labels guarantee quality up until that point, and after that, they’re not about the safety. It’s just about, like, you know, it tastes like one day less good. Whatever. Just letting you know. You might want to think about it. Sniff. I use the sniff test. No good. Is that your daily toast? Yeah, no, no. My daily toast. Oh, we got the daily toast. Okay. Attention, everyone. It’s the daily toast on the Debbie Nigro Show. Oh, well, you know, I have a couple of them my own. I might as well use my own. Because I’m doing the mug thing again. I never got it off the ground, but I have all these devservations, right?
42:39
So I want to leave you with one of my favorite ones, if I may. Okay? If you still got a pulse, you still got a shot. Mm hmm. That’s one of my favorite observations here on the Debbie Nigro Show.
