Scent the most powerful of all our senses.

Today I’m posting a podcast of my FULL RADIO SHOW for the first time in a while. I used to post whole shows then at some point I stopped and just started posting show interviews so my feature guests would have something high quality to share out on their social media.

Why post a whole show today? Not really sure.

Spring is in the air, this was a fun show, and I just felt like maybe some of you would enjoy it. I like the topic of scent and thought you might too. Let me know if you think listening to a podcast of whole show is entertaining? Or too long?  I’d really appreciate some feedback from the other side of the mic.

Anyway…This show is all about scent, smells, fragrance, the smells of Spring and how scent ties into memories. I love innovators so I’m also showcasing some cool gals with beauty industry backgrounds who had an idea, took a risk to disrupt the fragrance industry, and landed their product on Walmart shelves. Abby Wallach & Caroline Fabrigas, join me to share the news of their big ‘Sparti Scents’ product launch and also share the back story of just what it takes to bring a new perfume concept to life.

Scent is how I best remember my late beautiful Mother Eileen who passed in 2010. Everyone always commented on her perfume. I used to roll my eyes whenever she’d announce she’d worn the same fragrance for 50 years. (Obviously I did not get my risk taking gene from her)

Estee’ Lauder Youth Dew was her thing. To keep her memory close I keep her still intact beautifully cased solid Youth Dew perfume in my car arm rest compartment.

Seriously. Its’ still intact and still smells great after all these years. I’ll take it out on occasion to smell her. To remember her. Today I brought her smell to the radio show and introduced her to my engineer Bob. She’d have just loved that I announced on the air she’d  worn that same darn fragrance for 50 years! Al Pacino in “Scent of a Women” could have identified her by name from 3 blocks away.

Yes we have been given the gift to sniff out scents and old thoughts. We smell memories. Apparently our noses have the ability to smell like the snouts of dogs. The people who study brains will tell you the power of scent does trigger memories and they think this ability lies somewhere between the olfactory area and that nice college area in your brain called the ‘hippocampus’ .

Now that ‘Spring Is In The Air’ our sense of smell comes alive. And it’s fabulous unless you’re allergic or newly allergic in which case you confused you might have Covid so you may be newly neurotic.

What exactly does Spring smell like? Newly cut grass ? Yes and more. Enjoy the show

Best!
