No Star is Too Far! That’s the message left for the next generation of young women across the globe by the late Katherine Johnson, the genius African American mathematician whose work at NASA was groundbreaking and on who’s life the hit movie ‘Hidden Figures’ was based.

Katherine passed away last February. Her daughter Joylette Hylick (below) featured in the movie as a young girl joins me today for a short conversation upon the release of Katherine’s inspiring autobiographical picture book of her journey to success.
It’s called “ONE STEP FURTHER  My Story of Math, the Moon, and a Lifelong Mission”.  Katherine Johnson wrote it with 2 of her daughters Joylette Hylick and Katherine Moore. It’s a book that every young girl should read.
BTW, if you haven’t already seen the movie ‘Hidden Figures’, it’s streaming on Amazon. It is EXCELLENT. Amazing story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program. Truly gritty, brilliant and forward thinking woman who all succeeded against so many odds. I’d have loved to have been their friend.
