This cancer survivor with attitude is on a roll! Matthew McKay joins me today. He has fought his battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma since February 6, 2012. His current condition and diagnosis to date has been managed and treatable but not curable. After his diagnosis and a short bout of frustration, sorrow and pity, he made a decision to fight back. He immediately contacted The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, LLS, and inquired how he could give back to others who were less fortunate. With the help of his team they have raised approximately 45 thousand dollars in the last three years. In addition, a national team was created by family members in Florida in his honor. Matthew is insightful and passionate about contributing since his diagnosis; he feels blessed to be able to fulfill his dream as an actor while passionately raising awareness for blood related cancer. His acting career has provided additional venues to help others. His desire and commitment to give back is relentless. He is currently very active organizing events by visiting children with various disabilities and illnesses.
Breaking into Acting
In 2014, Matthew had started his acting debut as Officer Cooper in the independent film, “SNITCHES”. Acting was something he had always loved but felt was unobtainable. He quickly proved that his ability to act was innate. Since then he’s been on a roll!
Matthew is currently employed as a law enforcement officer in Westchester County New York. He holds a Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic and held past certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, Personal Trainer and Massage Therapist.
