Social Media Is Giving Me “Agida’ ! That’s Italian-American slang derived from the Italian “agitare” meaning “to agitate. How is it, some little kid with a lemonade stand in Peoria has more followers than me with a Professional Talk Show? In social media it seems we are only as valuable as the number of like-minded followers. If people ask me one more time why I’m not on Instagram I’m gonna spit! Who the heck has the time for all this? Today I’m starting a segment on my show with the help of social media expert Kerry Walters, to be very candid about what I’m frustrated with in social media and what I need to do next.
I know many of you also could use this guidance and inspiration. As a forward thinking entrepreneur and risk taker who talks to a lot of people, I can tell you nobody really has this completely straight . It’s a learning curve and we are going to learn together step by step with the help of a gal whose been doing it since the early days in Silicon Valley.
For the record I ‘own’ my talk show, work really hard to deliver great guests and content, and fund my show with sponsors I believe in who I’m proud to tell you about. This takes a lot of time. I keep dropping the ball on how to EXPAND in social media including being on multiple channels like Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Instagram, Pinterest all at the same time.
Staying on top of your social media with the right graphics, content and communication overall is a necessary ‘to do’ in today’s marketplace. Every business has to be on top of their online reputation as well as be social online with their supporters and customers. No matter what industry you are in, or how small or large your business is, you must be Social.
